TITLE   : Manually Completing the Install if Setup Fails

If PROCOMM PLUS for Windows fails to finish the installation, don't delete
what you've already installed!  You can manually finish the installation
yourself.

Video cards occasionally prevent the PROCOMM PLUS installation program from
using system resources needed to complete video intensive tasks such as
creating program icons.  This document outlines how to manually complete the
installation if the initial setup fails.

SETTING UP YOUR SYSTEM.INI FILE
Windows uses two files for most of its general settings.  During installation,
PROCOMM PLUS for Windows modifies one of these, SYSTEM.INI.  To verify that
the changes were successfully made, please follow these steps.

1. Within Program Manager, select Run from the File menu.

2. Type SYSTEM.INI into the Command field and click OK.

3. This will launch Notepad and allow you to edit the SYSTEM.INI file.

4. From the Search menu, select Find.

5. Type "DSTASK" in the Find What field, and click OK

6. If the search is successful, proceed to Setting Up the Icons.

7. If the search fails, locate the section labeled [386Enh].  Add the
   following line to this section.

   device=dstask.386

8. Select Exit from the File menu and save the changes as you exit Notepad.

9. Close all applications, exit Windows, and then restart Windows.

SETTING UP THE ICONS
The next step is to create icons for the different programs in PROCOMM PLUS
for Windows.  From the Window menu of Program Manager, select PROCOMM PLUS for
Windows.  This will take you to the PROCOMM PLUS for Windows icon group.  For
each of the programs listed below, you will need to follow these five steps.

1. Select New... from the File menu.

2. Confirm that Program Item is selected and click OK.

3. In the Program Item Properties window, type the description and
   corresponding Command Line listed in the table that follows.

4. Click on OK after entering the information.

5. This will add the appropriate icon and description to the PROCOMM PLUS for
   Windows icon group.

After completion, launch PROCOMM PLUS for Windows by double clicking on the
icon.  If you haven't run PROCOMM PLUS for Windows before, you will be guided
through README.WRI, the on-line Tutorial, the Login Script Generator, and
Helpful Hints.
