TECHNICAL BULLETIN #23 - Rev 1.00 (8/1/96) ============================================================================== TITLE : Installing the PROCOMM PLUS 2.01 Icon in Windows PRODUCT : PROCOMM PLUS 2.01 (DOS) ============================================================================== Installing an icon in Windows is relatively simple: select (or create) a group for the icon and then instruct Windows which icon you want to add to that group, along with the program the icon will run. 1. From the Program Manager, select a group to contain the PROCOMM PLUS icon. To create a new group, select the File menu option from the Program Manager menu and then select New. Choose the Program Group radiobutton, select OK, and the Program Group Properties window will appear. In the Description field enter the name you want to appear on the Group title bar. Ignore the Group File field. Select OK and the new group will appear as the active group. 2. From the Program Manager, select the File menu option and then select New. 3. Choose the Program Item radiobutton, select OK and the Program Item Properties dialog box will appear. 4. Specify in the Description field the title to appear under the icon (e.g., PROCOMM PLUS). 5. Specify in the Command Line field the complete path and filename of the PIF file you created for PROCOMM PLUS. For example, type "C:\PCPLUS\PCPLUS.PIF" in this field. 6. Specify in the Working Directory field the path to PROCOMM PLUS's home directory. For example, type "C:\PCPLUS" in this field. 7. To choose an icon, select the Change Icon pushbutton. Windows will respond with "There are no icons available for the specified file. " Click on OK and the Change Icon dialog box will appear. To use an icon from the Program Manager, select one from the Current Icon list and click on OK. Alternately, to use the icon with the PROCOMM PLUS logo, type the complete path of the home directory of PROCOMM PLUS, including the icon file name ("PCPLUS.ICO"), in the File Name field and click on OK. 8. Select OK and the Program Item Properties window should reappear with your selected icon in the lower left corner. 9.
