Datastorm File Library 3 File "FILES.V2" The list "Files Used by PROCOMM PLUS", Appendix D of the PROCOMM PLUS Version 2.0 User Manual, omits the listing and description of some of the files actually used. Those trying to pare down the overall size of the program for a portable need to know about the missing ones, and perhaps many would like to print a copy of this and place it in their User Manual as a (non-official) Addendum. -Paul, CIS 74066,635 Note: With the advent of the Maintenance Release 2.01, this file has been updated to include a few things that may be useful to you about Procomm PLUS Version 2 files. Be sure which Version of Procomm PLUS you have. At the Terminal screen, press Alt-I to see the Version number. Early purchasers received Version 2.00 originally, and the free Maintenance Release to update them to 2.01 later. Later purchasers received Version 2.01 originally and do not require the Maintenance Release. CISB.RTE The CIS B+ File Transfer Protocol. It is used only for CIS B file transfers. FLOAT.RTE Floating point routines for scripts that use floating point variables. HCOMMAND.RTE Loaded with Host Shell menu choice (if Item J-Use SHELLBOOT in Host Mode Options is ON) to reboot in the event of carrier loss while shelled to DOS. KERMIT.RTE The Kermit File Transfer Protocol. It is used only for Kermit file transfers. PCHELP.RTE The builtin Help facility for context keyed and menued help throughout PROCOMM and PCEDIT. CONVERT.EXE The program to convert PROCOMM PLUS Version 1.x .ASP files to the new expanded ASPECT language for Version 2.0 .ASP files. SYNTAX: CONVERT SCRIPT.ASP ASPCOMP.EXE The compiler used to compile Version 2.0 .ASP files to program usable .ASX script files. SYNTAX: ASPCOMP [switches] SCRIPT.ASP Switches are: /M[L] Generates a symbol map for this script (including any compiler warning messages). The L switch creates an additional source line number reference table. /E Maximum errors (default 20) before aborting compilation. /Wn Warning level (default 1) Use a space between switches. See ASPECT Script Language Reference Manual Page 14. New material added to this file July 19, 1991: PCPLUS.KBD This file was originally written by PCINSTAL at the time of installation. In the Maintenance Release 2.01 the file is on the distribution disk(s), and is to be copied into your Procomm directory, UNLESS you have modified your own PCPLUS.KBD and wish to use your modified one instead. Required for operation. PCPFULL.HLP A help file, which in hard disk installations was copied by PCINSTAL from the distribution disks to your hard disk as PCPLUS.HLP in Version 2.00. PCPLITE.HLP A help file, which in floppy installations was copied by PCINSTAL from the distribution disks to your floppy disk as PCPLUS.HLP in Version 2.00. -Note- One or the other format of PCPLUS.HLP is required in order that the Alt-Z Help function will work properly. PCPLUS.ICO This file was on the original distribution disks, and is an Icon for use with Windows. Not required if you don't run Windows. PCPLUS.PIF This file was on the original distribution disks, and is a file for use with Windows. Not required if you don't run Windows. DT_PATCH.EXE This file is used to apply the optional patches, *.DTP mentioned below. Be sure to apply have a backup copy of any file to which you apply patches, since they are not reversible. This file was supplied on the original distribution disks. Required only to apply the patches. *.DTP Files ending with the extension .DTP are optional patches for special purposes, to be applied with DT_PATCH.EXE. You should only apply a patch if you need it, and you should read the patch file first for complete information on what it does. They are required only if you want them, but are not required to be available for operation of the program. Note also that the .DTP patches on the original 2.00 distribution disks will NOT work with 2.01. There is an updated date patch file in Library 3 of the Datastorm Forum on CompuServe. *.DVP Files ending with the extension .DVP are files for use with DesqView, and were supplied on the original distribution disks. If you do not use DesqView they are not required. HOOK.C This file, on the original distribution disks, is for programmers who want to write HOOK programs, and is not a required file. MODEMS.DAT This file contains setups for configuring your program and your modem for proper operation. It is required initially by PCINSTAL, and later for reconfiguration for a different modem. An updated MODEMS.DAT, with additional modem types, is posted from time to time in Library 3 of the Datastorm Forum on CIS. READ.ME This text file on the original distribution disks contains some useful Manual revisions and information on the patches and DT_PATCH.EXE. You should certainly read this file and note its corrections in your manuals. There is an additional READ.ME file on the 2.01 Update disk(s) with different text. Not required for operation. *.ASP The original distribution disks contained several sample ASPECT scripts with the .ASP extension. Several of these, listed in the following, are quite useful, and should at least be saved, though none are required for operation of the program. Remember that .ASP files are really scripts for the compiler (ASPCOMP.EXE) and that the .ASX files produced by the compiler are the actual scripts that the program uses. Once an .ASP file is compiled, the program no longer requires it. ARRAY.ASP - is primarily for programmers, as is INCLUDE.ASP - for advanced scripting where the INCLUDE command is used. PORTS.ASP - is most useful, and can be a great help in checking COM port problems. It might well be compiled and the .ASX file kept. EASTBBS.DIR The three .DIR files mentioned here are extra Dialing WESTBBS.DIR Directories containing sample BBS numbers for the whole TOPBBS.DIR country. At the Dialing Directory (Alt-D) you may select these with X if you so desire. Note that they must be edited (long distance prefix 1, etc.) before use. end
